Social Media Etiquette

Keeping your social media clean is not only important to those who want to obtain a job, but also for individuals who want to keep their careers. In a project I have done on social media etiquette, I looked for a professional who has ruined their name by posting something inappropriate online, and this person is T.V. personality Kathy Griffin. Kathy Griffin is well known for guest starring in many shows, having her own series (Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List), and most importantly hosting the CNN New Year's Eve Program with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. She is a comedian known for her unabashed, brutal comments and her mocking impersonations of other celebrities. Despite her well-known antics, she faced serious backlash after posting an inappropriate picture involving President Donald Trump.
In May 2017 Kathy Griffin posted a picture of a beheaded Trump on her twitter by holding a bloodied mask of his head. She was under fire for posting such a gruesome photo that resembled violence, and the president, the first lady, as well as the daughter of Hillary Clinton spoke out against the incident. Many were disgusted, even Griffin's friend and co-host, Anderson Cooper. CNN released a statement of Griffin's termination from the New Year's Eve Program, showing the cost of being careless on your social media.
